In 1993, McDonnell Douglas brought the prototype
of their latest aircraft, the MD-90-30 to Mojave for flight test. The small orange cone
hanging from the tail samples static air pressure as a part of the flight test data
gathered. Alan Radecki photo. |

The powerful International Aero Engines V2500
open for inspection. The MD-90 was a follow-on to the MD-80, itself and outgrowth of the
fabled DC-9 series, all of which were equipped with Pratt & Whitney JT-8 engines. The
V2500 is part of what made the MD-90 unique. Alan Radecki photo. |
